serani

It’s Serani. Just in case you didn’t know. One of the biggest reggae names to take over 2008, Serani nee Craig Serani Marsh is creating quite the future for himself on the dancehall scene, and bringing along a sweet melodious sound that’s been missing for a while.

Serani entered the scene in 2001 as part of the three man producing collective, Daseca. These three young Jamaicans have been the force behind many riddims including “Safe Sex” and “Anger Management”–one of the most popular of 2004. They’ve also made the beat for Elephant Man’s “Willie Bounce” and many beats for Mavado. Although always giving homage to his team, Serani has also done production work on his own, co-producing “We Be Burning” and the “Smash” riddim, which had everyone and their mother Dutty Wining for quite some time. Not content with just producing, Serani moved on to also providing vocals on tracks. Currently on every urban station, “No Games” has introduced an entire new demographic to Serani and Daseca’s sound. Other top tunes to check out are “She Loves Me,” and “Rain a Fall.”

Are you familiar with Daseca? Have a favorite Serani tune?
