It’s his “Time to Shine.” Laden is one of the newest artists to deliver fresh and entertaining reggae music. Like many other artists trying to break out, Laden has been around for some time now (since 2007) but 2009 is poised to be his year to break out. And with two hot videos to kick it off, we’ll all be in for a treat.
Laden’s sound relies on his gritty falsetto forming a smooth melody over tight beats. His songs have reliable choruses and definitely stray from the Mavado sound of “Hold up, what did he say?” There’s no confusion in this youth’s work. As the opening sound on 2008’s Daybreak Riddim, Laden’s “No Gyal Coward” already has his associated with some of reggae’s big players like Vybez Kartel and Frisco. He is now working with Big Ship Records and the 18 year old, Stephen “di Genius” McGregor as his producer. (In case you were wondering McGregor is legend Freddie McGregor’s son).
“It’s Laden!” You can watch his videos, visit his MySpace and become one of a growing number of fans who recognize that it’s his time to shine. Get better acquainted with this Fresh Baked Good. Check his MySpace out here and peep these videos.
