The Roots have long been everyone’s favorite hip hop band. Emerging from Philly in the early 90’s the Roots have collaborated with everyone- Jay-Z, Erykah Badu and Eve, Cody Chesnutt, Nas, Talib Kweli- and produced many hits of their own. At the forefront are MC Black Thought and Drummer Quest Love. Beyond their jam sessions and collaborations, The Roots have also acquired a huge fan base from college tours and well placed performances. They appeared on Nickelodeon’s Yo Gabba Gabba as well as The Colbert Report during the height of election season in 2008 to perform The Star Spangled Banner. Now they have their late night steez going in full effect as the house band on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
Did that leave you with a question mark on your face? Don’t be puzzled. Check out their “Slow Jamming the News.”
I say they add Jimmy Fallon to their group…or at least give him a spot on their upcoming 11th album.
