Next week on April 21, 2009 we will be blessed with the dropping of not one but two great reggae albums by two of the titans of the industry: Buju Banton and Sizzla. To even begin to address their musical tome in a three hundred word blurb would be near impossible, so just consider this a heads up on what to expect.

First up is Buju’s Rasta Got Soul. Buju’s reggae while catchy deals with political issues wrapped in an everyday discussion. We know and love him for songs like “Untold Stories”, “Destiny” and “Driver.” And for better or worse, the controversial lyrics of “Boom Bye Bye” still follow him to this day with even Jay-Z quoting them in his popular “Brooklyn we Go Hard.” Rasta Got Soul has been years in the making and is bringing back the Buju we know after a 3 year hiatus. Check the tracklisting below.
1. “Hurt Us No More”

11. “Make You Mine”
12. “Bedtime Story” feat. Wyclef Jean
13. “Sense Of Purpose”
14. “Be On Your Way”
15. “Lights Out”

Like Buju, Sizzla also deals with the political through his roots and culture sound. He also promotes Rastafarianism, while giving people of all faiths a little something extra to think about. Highlights out of his career include “Black Woman & Child,” “Praise Ye Jah” and “Dry Cry.” His new album, Ghetto Youth-ology features a song for Obama, “Black Man in the White House” picking up on the work of other reggae artists like Mavado and Cocoa Tea. Check out the track listing below.
