In the musical Rent we’re asked often how do we “measure a year?” In the music world of RBMVibes we ask how do you measure a month? THIRTY DAYS, that’s all they gave us to celebrate Black Music and Caribbean-American Heritage.  My how quickly time flies and even moreso when you’re enjoying yourself. We’ve taken a trip through the years since the inception of Black Music month and detoured our way through the Caribbean as our music is influenced and melds so heavily with each other regardless of where you call home. We’ve helped you remember Tyrone as you thought about breakup songs from our month’s first post. You went to “church” with Elephant man last week and so we don’t keep you waiting any longer we’ll share what we have in store for you this week as the month nears its’ end. We hope that you’ve taken some time out this month to cherish the music of a people and are looking forward to the brillance, and the slip-ups, yet to come.

Soulja Boy Tell’em: Crank That
You don’t have to admit it to us or to anyone else, and we wouldn’t recommend it either, but we already heard that your cousin has a tape of your grown ass doing this dance at that year’s family cookout. So, go ahead and do it again if for nothing else than reminiscing over how good it was to see your little cousins all grown up.

Lil Wayne: Lollipop
Candy, candy and more candy. I don’t know how many people had “cavities” last year because of this joint! Even after a trip to the “dentist” i’m sure you still thought about that sweet candy on a stick again…

Musiq Soulchild: Beautiful
In one word we can some up the opportunity to celebrate Black Music and Caribbean-American Heritage month, what it means to be able to identify with both or either group, and where both groups have come from and are going. The possibilities are as endless as the people behind them are-beautiful.
