The release of Jackson’s song comes on the eve of a release of the Jackson movie, also called This is It, due to hit theaters on October 28. The movie follows the preparation for the tour that Jackson was set to perform and was in the midst of preparing for when he reached his death. Along with the movie, a 2 disc album is also being released on October 27. Disc 1 will feature two versions of the title song along with Jackson’s greatest hits. On Disc 2, listeners will be treated to previously unreleased versions of Jackson’s greatest hits.

In recent years Jackson also released a commemorative album for Thriller, and sales of his songs shot through the roof immediately after his death, holding the majority of top spots on several industry boards. With this new release, his estate is hoping his selling power will continue to hold, and we’ll all see if Michael really still had it.

We all loved the unnecessary high drama that was last season’s Real Housewives of Atlanta. Now New Jersey was good towards the end, and Orange County will always have the benefit of being the original. But you have to admit the southern flair of the Georgia ladies brought high comedy to the Bravo Reality Series. The show returns on Thursday, July 30th and RBMVibes is pumped and excited for what is sure to be entertainment. Nene Leakes and newcomer Kandi Burruss have already been going at it over the blogs.

Now with gender anger aside, we introduce you to Nicki Minaj. She’s been hovering on the scene for a few years now and is part of the Cash Money collective. Poised as an over-sexed Barbie doll, Minaj has honed her skills growing up in Jamaica, Queens and attending La Guardia High School for the Performing Arts in Manhattan (the prestiged performing arts high school that was the inspiration for FAME). And while the type may be overdone, Minaj does stand out because of her talent. Listening to music off her latest mixtape, Minaj has more than a few things going for her. A distinctive voice and solid flow work to her advantage. Unfortunately more buzz about her seems to come from gossip items floating around the blogs than for the musical prowess she is developing.

Obviously hearkening to gangster movie, Carlito’s Way the album moves through a variety of themes, and when you purchase the album, it even comes with a mini movie. However, unlike Jay-Z’s “American Gangster”, don’t expect the songs to flow seamlessly into each other and tell a story. That being said, the songs all do have a place on the album and Fabolous utilizes a variety of artists and producers to enhance the songs. Almost every track features another stand out artist including newcomer Kobe, Keri Hilson, Jeremih, The Dream, Ne-Yo, Trey Songz, Marsha Ambrosius, and production credits including Jermaine Dupri, the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, Ryan Leslie and DJ Khalil. Rap heavyweights Jay-Z and Lil’ Wayne also appear on the album. Seeing as almost all these artists/producers have hit songs than an amateur music lover can mention, we know we’re in for a good time. The only thing we here at RBMVibes want to know is what happened to Lil’ Mo.

The suprising thing on this album, is that even with this assortment of quality and prominently featured artists, Fabolous is still the dominant force throughout the album. Then again this is his fifth album, and in what can be a fickle music business, that’s enough to make him a purple heart veteran of the battle that artists often speak of. Standout tracks on the album include the addictive Throw it in the Bag, and My Time.

Fabolous Losos Way

We loved the first album for songs like One Step at a Time, No Air with Chris Brown, and even Tattoo with its adolescent geared lyrics grew on us. Through music videos, interviews, and award show moments, the public has been exposed to her talent, personality, and strong set of beliefs. (Remember when she took on Russell Brand at the MTV Awards) Her second album, “Battlefield” has already begun to impress us. The title track as well as S.O.S. which uses the chorus from Shannon’s Let the Music Play are solid up-tempo songs. But where Sparks shines is on the slowed down The Cure where Sparks stretches her range a bit and shows some of her vocal growth. A similar approach is taken on Faith which is an inspirational tune to get anyone out of a slump. Sparks delivers solid music and amazing vocals but also seems to be battling the young adult content slum of being not a girl, not yet a woman. But in that vein the music is appropriate, not only for her age but for the demographic that her music targets. After-all, she is still 19 years old and on tour with the Jonas Brothers.
